Books can help kids learn about their dental health in a fun way. When it comes to dental visits, sometimes kids have questions that can easily be answered through the magic of a book. 

That’s why our staff has collaborated to create a list of our favorite books for your children to get them excited about brushing their teeth and visiting the dentist.

• The Tooth Book – Dr. Seuss 
  • Using classic rhymes, Dr. Seuss helps kids learn about what their teeth can do like talk and eat, how they grow, and how to keep them clean and healthy. This fun book will make little ones smile as they learn about all the things teeth can do.
• Brush Your Teeth Max & Millie – Felicity Brooks
  • Kids will love to follow the story of two young friends, Max and Millie as they learn about brushing their teeth. This cute story uses simple and repetitive text that young readers will not only love to hear but can read to you too!
• Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist – Stan Berenstain & Jan Berenstain
  • Kids can join the Brother and Sister Bear as they go to the dentist to get their teeth cleaned and checked for cavities. While there, they learn all about the tools a dentist uses to help keep their teeth healthy.
• Just Going to the Dentist – Mercer Mayer
  • In this book, kids follow Little Critter to a checkup at the dentist in this humorous and heartwarming kids classic.  Kids learn about having an x-ray taken, getting a teeth cleaning, or cavity checks in a way to helps ease fears of the dentist.
• Vera Goes to the Dentist – Vera Rosenberry
  • This is a great story for kids between the ages of 4-8 who are visiting the dentist for not only cleanings but also to get a cavity fixed by the dentist. Kids can learn about how Vera overcomes her fears in this charming story.
• Sesame Street Ready, Set, Brush! A Pop-Up Book – Che Rudko
  • Kids LOVE Elmo!  Kids not only learn that monsters need to clean their teeth, they also get to interact with this pop-up book.  A great partner to this book is a staff recommendation of this Bonus Video, Sesame Street: Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me: Brushy Brush PSA
• Show Me Your Smile!: A Visit To The Dentist 
  • In this book, it’s time for Dora’s checkup at the dentist. Dora explores the dentist’s office, gets her teeth cleaned, and more. She even gets a special treat for being such a good patient!
• Peppa Pig: Dentist Trip
  • Peppa and George go to the dentist in this story. It’s George’s first visit, so he’s a little nervous–but Peppa shows him that a trip to the dentist can be lots of fun!

• Curious George Visits the Dentist 

  • Curious George bites into a shiny apple made of wax and his tooth begins to hurt. When George shows his wiggly tooth to the man with the yellow hat, he takes George to the dentist. It’s his first time, and George is nervous, but he overcomes his fear and learns about better dental hygiene—with a little good-natured mayhem on the side!
