In this video, we asked Savannah, a dental assistant some common questions parents often ask!
Should all kids get sealant?
All kids should get sealants. Sealants are a preventative procedure that will prevent kids from getting cavities. It only protects their biting surface but it’s a very good procedure to get done just to protect them from ever-evolving into something bigger. Sealants only take 30 minutes tops if that. Sealants do not hurt, it’s just quick, we etch the tooth, we rinse it off, we dry it real good and then we put the sealant material on. We take our fancy blue light and we shine it and it hardens and you’re good to go.
What kind of toothbrush should kids use?v
Kids should use a small bristled soft toothbrush. So when you feel it with your thumb it should feel nice and soft so it’s not going to be irritating their gums or make it not fun to brush their teeth.
