At your first visit, your child will be seen for an initial consultation and clinical assessment. If a frenectomy is recommended, a CO2 laser will be used as it allows for healing of the tissue to begin right away with minimal bleeding during the procedure. The goal of the frenectomy is to minimize and alleviate signs and symptoms associated with tongue-ties and lip-ties in infants. After the procedure, post-operative exercises will be recommended. A follow-up visit will be scheduled after the completion of the procedure to ensure proper healing. Routine care and follow-up with a lactation consultant is extremely important if breastfeeding. Bottle-feeding babies benefit from seeing a feeding therapist. Supportive care with a pediatric chiropractor or craniosacral therapist is also very helpful.
